WHY BECOME A MEMBER?
At Coastal Church, we believe that church membership is more than just attending services on Sundays. It’s a commitment to spiritual accountability, intentional community, and being a part of a family that actively pursues Christ together. We encourage membership because it fosters deeper relationships, mutual support, and shared responsibility within the body of Christ.

Biblical Foundation for Membership:
The Bible teaches us the importance of being connected to a local church body. Hebrews 10:24-25 urges us to not neglect to meet together, but encourage one another. By committing to membership, you are choosing to be accountable to others and to receive accountability from others as well. Additionally, 1 Corinthians 12:27 reminds us, "Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it." Membership is a tangible step in embracing that responsibility as a part of the body.
1. WE ARE COASTAL CLASS
The We Are Coastal class is the first step toward membership, but it is also a great opportunity for anyone who simply wants to learn more about our church without committing to membership. This in-person class is designed to help you understand who we are as a church, what we believe, and how you can get involved.
3. SIGN MEMBERSHIP
At Coastal, we believe that signing a membership agreement is more than just a formality. It is a public declaration of your commitment to be held accountable and to actively participate in the life of the church. This written commitment helps us to identify those who are committed to growing in faith and serving alongside us, allowing us to shepherd and care for you more effectively.
2. ASSIGNED AN ELDER
Our elders are spiritual leaders dedicated to praying for you, checking in with you, and helping you navigate your spiritual journey. They serve as a point of contact for guidance, support, and accountability. This intentional connection is rooted in the biblical model of shepherding as seen in Acts 20:28, “Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God”.
4. OFFICIALLY A MEMBER
As a member, you’re choosing to commit to a deeper level of accountability, participation, and connection within the church. This step signifies that you’re ready to serve, grow, and engage intentionally as part of our church family. Whether you’re a member or not, everyone is welcome here, and we’re grateful to walk alongside you in your faith journey.
WE ARE COASTAL CLASS
This class is where we discuss who Coastal is and what we believe. Sign up below to start the membership process. This class will not automatically make you a member, but it’s the chance for you to get to know Coastal and our leadership to see if this is the place for you! We hope that after you sit through this class, that you will decide to join us in being authentic followers of Jesus Christ. We strongly encourage you to take this class in person, but if you are unable to go to any of the dates below, you can take it online as well.
